Which doesn't negate the suspicion.  It also occurs that possibly those with cardio-vascular issues are more likely to be taking artificial sweeteners.  </p><p>I take it (in moderation) to try to allay gum disease caused by sucrose-laden foods. It's the only thing that makes avoiding the sucrose/fructose killer pair a godsend.  I did read that its cousin, Erythritol, was the culprit.
