Systems Approach was founded by computer scientists and authors Larry Peterson and Bruce Davie. We have been researching computer networks since the 1980s and writing networking textbooks almost as long. We publish everything under Creative Commons licences and make extensive use of open source tools and code. We also publish a fortnightly newsletter that is sent out to the Fediverse.

    @llp85704, I’m sorry, but this feels like a self-inflicted problem. It’s like whether a tomato is a fruit or whether a palm tree is a tree.Do what we do in other fields where distinctions get fuzzy: List characteristics that are common to clear cases of something being a router; list distinct characteristics of the clear cases of something being a switch; and for the non-clear cases you list list which properties hold for the case.
