How Do Cysts Form?
-
Cysts typically form when a small pocket of tissue becomes enclosed and begins to fill with fluid, semi-solid material, or cellular debris. This can happen for several reasons, such as blocked ducts or glands, infections, inflammation, or abnormal cell growth. As the blockage or irritation persists, cells continue to produce fluid or material that has nowhere to drain, causing the sac-like structure to gradually expand.
