Patient buying cigarettes while laid up in a hospital bed, USA?, 1951

@PugJesus Probably one of the least dangerous, injurious, and addictive substances brought to him by those nurses that day.

Keep laughing. Especially funny that part with you sitting in a huge pile of plastic. While knowing perfectly well that it isn't good for you.
And that guy didn't know much about the harm of cigarettes in '51.
Who is more deserving of laughter, hmmm?
Both can be correct. I didn't know plastic was as bad as it was when I was a kid. I laugh at how stupid I used to be all the time.
Besides, if that man is still alive he'd be like 95 and in the exact same situation as the rest of us. Maybe we could joke together about how fucking stupid we are while cursing the corporations that lied to us.
Edit: bad math

I'll take the asbestos filtered one, thanks. So smooth.

I did not think they had mobile payment devices back then!
Are you pretending cash isn't a thing as a joke or is there actually a mobile payment device in the photo?

Relaxes in the T-Zone. More doctors recommend Camels than any other cigarette.
-
I didn’t realize Mounds had been around that long.
-
Its the fucking nurses bringing it to him too

They weren't nurses, they were candy strippers.

Years ago, had an octogenarian, out-of-state relative visiting. She had emphysema and got around with a portable oxygen tank on wheels, and a nose cannula.
She excused herself to go outside and smoke.
With the oxygen still on.

The menu he's handling looks like a tablet if you miss the back page XD
