Physicists tell us that the strength of the gravitational force between any two bodies is the product of the gravitational constant and the masses of the two bodies divided by the square of the distance between them.

This so-called law, however, does nothing to account for what is happening between my back and this heating pad right now.

@maxleibman a new theory says that information in matter and space time emerges gravity. Denser information emerges more gravity, accounting for extra gravity from dark matter. It sounds like, if you clear your mind you'll weigh less.

@Oldfartrant @maxleibman don't wanna be that guy, but here i am... i'm having trouble parsing this whole sentence. "information... emerges gravity"? information emerges FROM gravity? gravity emerges FROM information? is this like saying "the tube emerges toothpaste"?

or -- is this a new usage within the field that i'm not familiar with because i'm not a physicist? 😁😵‍💫

i'm just a big grammar nerd and mean no harm... (btw "oldfartrant" cracks me up) 🤣

@rothko @maxleibman it was in a toot a day or so ago. My take is information is the whole history of the particles. So the more interactions a particle has, the more information it carries and thus more gravity emerges from the information. I'm not a physicist either so I could have it completely wrong. I was just happy we don't have invisible matter floating around. I'll poke around and see if I can find the original article.

@Oldfartrant @maxleibman i think my brain is having trouble with the concept of information not being merely a collection of facts about a thing, but in fact a thing in and of itself. (i don't know if that sentence really makes sense, even...)

@rothko @maxleibman I'm sure the math makes more sense although not to me.
