Do you have strong memories of going through puberty? I have almost none, and even in my teenage years, had basically no awareness of puberty. I always figured this was a trans thing, but when I started asking my friends, there didn't seem to be an obvious correlation between transness and memory of teenage puberty.

So now I'm curious. Do you have strong memories of puberty, and are you trans¹ or cis? For the purposes of this survey, a useful memory to think about may be your voice cracking if you went through testosterone puberty, or your first period if you went through an estrogen puberty.

¹ By "trans" I mean the broadest definition of everyone who doesn't think of themselves as cis. This is about gender specifically, so if you're queer but the gender assigned to you at birth fits nicely, please choose cis.

@taedryn Little memory here; dissociation is a bitch. I have memories of childhood, I have memories of high school, but not a lot for middle school.

@NicolaElle it's strange, I only have spotty memories until about college. I feel like I didn't really become a person until around then. If I work at it, I can pull up a bunch of different memories, but they're all events and not anything to do with my body or gender. I feel like I was almost disembodied, in those memories.

@taedryn @NicolaElle this is familiar to me. there is a lot that I only managed to adequately frame post-transgender-awareness; a lot of trauma and bad moments but also some more neutral memories

@Primavera @NicolaElle Yeah, I very much feel like my whole childhood makes a ton more sense when viewed through a transgender lens. There have been a lot of There Were No Signs™️ moments. 😅

@taedryn @NicolaElle yeah like lately I have been reminiscing a lot about just how insanely uncomfortable I always was in male-only groups, this case, specifically gym lockers, like I loathed showering after gym class, all I wanted was to just get out of there; even just dressing/undressing was terrible enough

@taedryn@anarres.family I think the only real memory I have of puberty specifically is being concerned about growing armpit hair, mostly because it showed up on one arm well before the other
