And darker skinned players forced to stay at motels and homes in the Black part of town. All-white teams. Olympia has impressive sound editing for that era, almost up to modern standards. Whenever the American athlete was up, they would fade in the crowd chanting USA USA USA.
It got me wondering, what would it have felt like walking around Nazi Berlin in 1936? Foreboding and creepy?
The Germans did restrain the Storm Troopers for the duration. They tended to punch foreigners for not saluting.

No sh!t. If I was a citizen of another country let alone a brown person there is no way in hell I would come to the US.
How many folks from South America don't speak English in their native Spanish speaking country? How many from dozens of European countries? Why should they and while in the past you could get by using the translate app on your phone or staying in a language friendly hotel.... these days??
