      Along with this, buying local will have the largest impact long-term. It is going to vary a lot by where you live but it many places you easily replace 50% or more of your regular shopping with local grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, farmers markets, coffee shops etc

        Buying books locally has gotten a lot harder. There are way fewer independent book stores anymore 😞

        https://bookshop.org/

        is an option but it feels less than perfect.

        I will still buy from the shop near me but it makes me sad it is not locally owned anymore.

          @shafik I'm lucky to have a wonderful local, independent bookshop. I can order stuff through them without any trouble, and they always have something interesting out when I choose to browse the store.

            @gwozniak

            Out local shop got absorbed by Barnes and Nobles. I think it was either that or close up.

              @shafik @gwozniak In the Bay Area, I frequently attended musical performances at Medicine for Nightmares in the Mission, and Bird and Beckett in Glenn Park. Both of those are indeed bookstores! Neither made money on the performances, so I also bought books when I was there.
