    Ok. A question for someone who has a good understanding of WiFi. We have gig internet from spectrum. I’ve ran speed tests on all devices and it says I’m getting all my speeds. And we have no problems streaming video or any internet issues. Yet whenever I go into a meeting on google meet I break up for everyone and they also do for me. I even turn off my video thinking it’s that. It does this on computer and I’m not sure about phone. What might be the cause of this though if it’s only in meetings? This is really vexing.

      @amy0223 Does your router have any kind of quality of service settings on it? It's possible your Google Meet traffic is being given a lower priority. Without knowing the type of router you have though that's a guess.

        @amy0223 Would it be possible to cut wifi out of the loop entirely, and connect your computer to the router with an ethernet cable? That should narrow things down, at least.

        I mean, the symptoms you're describing don't make any particularly likely explanation jump out at me, but maybe by narrowing down what could be responsible it'll suggest something.

          @amy0223 Would it be possible to cut wifi out of the loop entirely, and connect your computer to the router with an ethernet cable? That should narrow things down, at least.

          I mean, the symptoms you're describing don't make any particularly likely explanation jump out at me, but maybe by narrowing down what could be responsible it'll suggest something.

          @amy0223 FWIW based on your description it's sounding more like a Google Meet problem than a wifI problem, but it's hard to tell without eliminating some options.

                @quanin It’s whatever spectrum gave me. That was the first thing I thought of. I looked in the spectrum app and I don’t see where they shape traffic or anything. To complicate this more, we have a total of six cable jacks in this house and only one had signal running to it. So the modem and router must sit on the floor. But again the only problem I have is in meetings. lol. So the positioning of the router shouldn’t matter. Someone suggested disabling chrome extensions. I can try this. I wish I didn’t have to sit on the floor to hard wire myself into the damn connection or I’d test that too. It is so weird.

                    @quanin Fucking muppets! Looks like spectrum does its own throttling bullshit. Weird though that it only impacts that. I may disable extensions and see if that does anything otherwise I’ve gotta get them to put their router in bridge mode and get my own. Sigh.

                      @mcourcel @quanin Yeah. I’ve been using chrome only because supposedly that works better for google meet. But I’ll definitely try that.

                        @amy0223 is the breakup only on google meet, or on other things like zoom or facetime? Remember for video your upstream speed matters more than your downstream? Try changeing your wifi channel and your channel width. There is more but start there.

                          @Doug73 So I need to see if I can change this. But it is currently at 5 ghz. I will say I’ve not been on zoom because at work we don’t use it. But I’ve been on FaceTime and even on be my eyes calls and no breakup. It is odd!

                            @amy0223 try different browsers. also, the wifi cards that are built in to some machines are pretty crappy. If you have ethernet plug in a cable and see what happens. if it is good, then go find a reputable usb wifi dongle. If you want call me and we will probably be able to solve this in 37 minutes or less, or your money back.

                              @amy0223 dunno but we had this problem on wifi when switching from zoom to google meet a few years ago. whenever more than 4 or so devs were in a meeting on wifi, the throughput dropped way down for everyone. We fixed it by... plugging in cables.

                                @amy0223 Maybe turn off QOS packets in your router.
