        @BuyFromEU
Unilever = Dove, Signal - Unilever does business in Russia, other corporations are ceasing their activities
        Loreal (USA) = Garnier

This will be the hardest task: boykott products from Mondelez, formerly known as Kraft foods: Côte d'Or, Suchard, Milka, Cadbury, Marabu, Daim, Tuc, Oreo, etc.
But there are plenty of European alternatives, e.g., Lindt, Bahlsen, Rausch, Griesson etc.

And instead of switching from a US manufacturer to a non-US one, this may be an opportunity to seek out local, small-scale producers, fair trade, or even organic products – and, in a supreme act of audacity, products that combine all these virtues 😉

@BuyFromEU - Agent Orange’s existing tariffs on all countries (and as paid by US citizens) are funding his war efforts - internationally and within his own country.

@C0rn3lius It’s not about the tariffs but corporate taxes. Although in practice US companies have local subsidiaries and pay local taxes (if they pay it at all of course, cf Amazon), a lot of products are also manufactured in the EU. US companies pay taxes to the US gov when the EU child company sends money to the parent company, but there are a lot of tax optimisation strategies (IP licensing…) to partially evade it.
No idea how much of our grocery money gets back to the US treasury.

It’s quite complicated, but to give an example:
                - Company A (US) licenses its toothpaste IP to a child company based in Ireland
                - Company B (IR) sub-licenses the expensive formula to a Company C (FR)
                - Company C pays another subsidiary Company D (Poland) to manufacture it
                - Company C then sell it to a mass retailer in France
                - the mass retailer sells it in supermarkets

Company C deduces royalties and production costs from its profits, so the profits go to Company B, based in a tax paradise.

You forget that all those billionaires are ready to abandon their nationality for paying less to no taxes. Only they seek state support to defznd their interests.

They moved their money to tax heavens in the EU and are trying to bribe USA & EU people of charge in affairs.

I have no doubt they will find a business agreement with Trump to sell your mother as long as they get some benefit of it

@BuyFromEU@mastodon.social None of the companies pictured pay much in taxes, though.

@BuyFromEU for double-edged safety razor blades, there are many more options too. Tiger (CZ) being my favourite.
