The reason it's called the closet, is because locking a child away in one is abuse.
We're victims, but we can't even talk about what was done to us among ourselves (Because so many of us have had to bury our trauma deep and avoid ever thinking about it, just to barely function day-to-day), never mind with those who proclaim themselves 'allies', without ever listening to or believing us.
The kind of people who say 'believe victims' about other groups, won't even acknowledge that we are victims.
As much as we need to speak out for the sake of the next generation, no-one wants to help us through the additional pain of talking through what a childhood like that does to a person.

@JessTheUnstill A good heuristic also, and especially, for those politicians supposedly on the human-rights side. There seems to be a trans exception, just like the Palestine exception.
