@heidilifeldman I'm thinking the Unibomber explosion he survived did something to his brain.

@heidilifeldman the apology is worse than the email. Barf.

"“This one was obsessed with girls (like every other unmarried billionaire in Manhattan; in fact, like every other heterosex male), and if I hadn't said what I did in that letter ten-odd years ago, he would certainly have called me & asked for a lot more aesthetic detail. (This is how men behave.)”"

AND "the totally pointless disclosure of the Epstein files"

        @seedlingsong

As if anything in tha message was supposed to make things better in any way at all. It’s mainly just outing themselves as a peer.

Oh wait they’re not an unmarried manhatran billionaire, phew.

          "habits"?

Wouldn't the normal word be "preferences"?

Sad to say, he is right.
" (This is how men behave.)”
            Yeah they do.

Not all, but enough so that no woman over 18 escapes being judged for their attraction, rather than her qualifications.

July 2009 was when Epstein was released from sleep-away jail.

He hired the Public Relations firm of Peggy Siegal to rehabilitate his image. Less nightlife and restaurants. He told Ghislaine to maintain distance from him for deniability.

That was when Epstein started courting universities becoming a big donor. He began to hold soirees for academics. He sponsored scholarships.
He found a few choice buddies like Dershowitz.

I doubt everyone he courted to put a shine on his reputation participated in his lifestyle or even knew much about it. Predators don't announce their crimes. They probably could figure out quickly that he was a womanizer. Most would not assume this also meant children.

(Story 2020) Siegal is a publicist by trade, like Nancy Haberman, Maggie's mother Some porky pies and whoppers are told.

So... he writes out "goodlooking" but abbreviates "very".

One could assume that he recognized, in this context, "very small" was a proxy for "childlike" and resorted to abbreviation to pretend this wasn't v creepy.

And were he aware of E's history, mentioning this characteristic seems to be an attempt to ingratiate himself with E.

A shame that all of the men Gelernter knows allegedly "behave" like this.

That explains a lot, but it excuses nothing.

Sounds like he knew about Epstein's habits. Should be removed from contact with students (at the very least) and called to testify asap.

@heidilifeldman@mastodon.social wow, I... I didn't think someone would double down on it and somehow have their defense make it worse

anyway, while he's continuing to dig himself deeper into a pit, perhaps we should just leave him in there...

@heidilifeldman I want to know when these academics are going to start getting stripped of their positions. Even if they have tenure. There is no excuse for any professor appearing anywhere in the Epstein files to still have a job or still be employable, anywhere in academia.

@heidilifeldman as a fellow heterosexual male I humbly invite Gelertner to keep any generalizations about demographics I share with him out of his fucking mouth.

                            Nasty trash-ass misogynist.
