Indeed, I don't want someone else, be they human or artificial to tell me what I'm interested in.
I have friends to give me recommendations about things they actually know I'm interested in (and even then they can get it wrong)
But of course an algorithm isn't even intelligent (though they probably have been replacing them with AI these days...)
Anyway that's not the point; the point is to drive you to buy something, believe something or do something the owner, or their customer buying access, wants you to.
