I moved to Vegas in 2013 after a house fire in Silicon Valley (the real one), I started watching the show when some people in Vegas said they watched it as a HowTo, a documentary about how to be The Next Silicon Valley.

I am completely serious, btw. This was a year in or so for the series, the Downtown Project was booting up in Vegas, etc.

Even worse, I heard this again in about 2022, that people really were re-watching to get some hints. It seems unbelievable but I do believe it, since the local gov looks at Silicon Valley 2008 and after as a model.

I was in silly valley from 1993, but we should look at the late 1800s if we’re being serious (but only I am )..

We can talk to the Meow Wolf people, they might be able to put that together. They have Omega Mart here in Vegas (it is pretty cool, I have to say), and they are following our early start on the Smarter Smart City Challenge for 2026, maybe they’ll jump on the hologram…

Silicon Valley really did get its start from the Gold Rush and an organically emergent Culture of Innovation. Add in a certain amount of Coherence and Cohesion, and a bunch of capital, and it was still not as easy as it probably seemed… and look what it got us.
