what's a TV show you watched as a kid that you're pretty sure you hallucinated
-
@Mrfunkedude I literally gasped "oh God!" when it cut to the frog
@Taweret My mother was a teacher and would wake me up early to get ready. This was the only show that played early and was meant for kids.

@Taweret misfits of science, the one where fineas bogg time travels with a watch, "Battle of the Planets" (born as Gatchaman) has lately been pretty well unearthed, the Hulk cartoon with the powerful theme song
@i_give_u_worms @Taweret Voyagers was the time travel one -- I have fond memories of that.
There was a saturday morning cartoon in which a teenaged "benjy grimm" used his "thing rings" to transform into The Thing (yes, the orange rock monster from the Fantastic Four). Not really trippy, but not many folks seem to remember it.

@Taweret camp candy, where John Candy ran a summer camp
Gravedale High, where Rick Moranis taught at a monster high school
Little Rosie, where Roseanne and Dan from Roseanne were kids

@Taweret I’d say “Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp,” but it’s right on YouTube so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just some chicken pox dream

@Taweret also I saw at least part of the movie Rock and Rule when I was very small (the part where the demon emerges at the end) and literally believed it was a fever dream until just a couple of years ago. I tried so hard to figure out what I could have been thinking of but never found a trace

@Taweret A couple live action shows from the 80s that most people don't seem to remember that I liked were The Wizard, which had the actor who played Randall from Time Bandits (David Rappaport, I think?) as an inventor/toy maker who solved crimes/had adventures, and Adderly, a canadian show about a superspy with a robot hand who was given a desk job... and then solved crime.

@Taweret pretty easy for cancon furry heavy metal knockoff to slide under the radar of a search unless you happen to talk to the right person

@Taweret I do appreciate that some Wikipedia editor was like “I know what your main question regarding this talking ape rock star spy show is going to be: what cars did the apes drive”

what's a TV show you watched as a kid that you're pretty sure you hallucinated
@Taweret the “Where’s Herb” Butger King contest commercial where Herb will give you a million dollars if you point him out at Burger King
You get a 99 cent Whopper if you tell the cashier “I’m not Herb”
Q: What do you say if your name is Herb?
A: I’m not the Herb you’re looking for -

@Taweret
Oh god nobody has mentioned this one and it's a fucking doozyA show where the protagonist would go into a laser tag arena and shoot a pillar and then be transported to space to fight to save the galaxy.
No, really.
Even at the time it felt goddamn surreal.

@coriander @Taweret it was awful, but my least favorite "comedian cashes in for a cartoon" had to be Bobby's World, because a) Howie Mandel is so insufferable and b) I felt obligated to watch it because the time slot was something very girly on ABC and turning off the TV on Saturday morning was not an option
