@Pinchy63 hi, yes, we get snow, there’s not been much here this winter but further north has had more.

@Irisfreundin the blackbirds don’t seem to bother with them, there’s still berries on the bushes and when it gets cold/frozen I put out some apples for the blackbirds. The are busy digging up worms and grubs when it’s clear & unfrozen soil.

@Hellybootwader Here the male blackbirds (merls) hit yellow crocus flowers not to eat but to destroy them. There was speculation that they view them as enemies because they are the same color as their beaks.

@Irisfreundin we have a couple of resident blackbirds in our garden, maybe they are secure in their manly-ness (!)

@Broadfork it’s raining again already. Glad I was able to get out while the sun was briefly shining.
