in one house i lived in, when we moved in, we didn't have any drinking glasses so everyone was assigned to steal one pint glass or mug from a bar, which everyone then did. since they're promotional items anyway a lot of the time, it didn't feel like other kinds of theft, i think

Before coffee mugs you had to take the glass when smuggling a drink out for the stumble home. -
