It's okay to pick and choose what awful shit you pay attention to. You're not obligated to fight on all fronts of the war against fascism simultaneously.

Don't belittle or diminish the importance of other's fights, but it's okay to just, for example, pay attention to one or two of Gaza. Or Trans Rights. Or Epstein. Or antivax. Or racism. Or ICE. Or corruption. Mutual aid. Or even, yes, electoralism. All of the things need people to work on them. Soldiers can't be on every front at once.

@JessTheUnstill right? And I feel it's not only Okay but also effective to stay in your own lane about it. Im canadian and white, of course I'm anti ICE but I have no first hand experience with that particular form of oppression, I probably wont be an effective advocate. I am trans, and afab, and disabled however, and I have a lifetime of experience of dealing with those particular forms of oppression and the motives of that oppression. I will probably be more useful there, and not just in canada. Not to mention, intersectionality is a thing, and I will undoubtedly come across someone who is oppressed by both ICE and misogyny, for example, and in that way I can help someone in an anti ICE way but itll be more in my wheelhouse. I dont know what happened to the world but yes, its extremely normal and okay to be an activist in what you know.

Sometimes you have to just push the dumpster fire out of the way to go burn alongside the tire fire so you can try and do SOMETHING about the forest fire, and help out with the house fire when you can.

@JessTheUnstill the good news is, they're all connected. Working on it in one context affects it in all contexts.
