My fellow YouTuber Paul Warburg has been AI cloned by a new YouTube channel which is trying to make a profit off his visual identity using an AI version of him.

Please help me kill the bot by reporting one or more videos on this channel:

Use the report button underneath a video and choose the category "hateful or abusive content", and write "Illegal AI clone of the Paul Warburg channel".

@robcinos I suppose they will address this by introducing some new copyright detraction, but detecting the AI ripoffs is probably hard to do automatically.

@elCelio pretty sure YouTube has a strong incentive to remove the channel once they become aware, no matter the state of the legal issue.

@randahl Reported for impersonation. I also subscribed to Paul’s channel rather than simply relying on the algorithm to push new content to me. The worrying thing about having to search for the impersonator to report it is that it may now taint the k8nd of content pushed to me. It’s a game of whack-a-mole to block fake news peddlers as it is!

Done. That’s been happening to a couple of other folks I follow. I hope some European sovereign video platform arises as an alternative and I hope it has strict prohibitions against AI impersonation of human beings.

@randahl @elCelio I respect your position, but I suspect a deeper anaysis would reveal that the incentives favour a total pivot to generative AI content, and I fear the tipping point is far closer than we think. I am terribly ignorant, tho wide strokes and public information appear to paint a picture of current and past media harvest to supplant with purchased narrative and low-risk scam. It's burning hot at both ends of the fuze. Not enuf room to expound upon, thank goodness, eh?
