The infrastructure supporting this technology is consuming vast quantities of natural resources and will be a major factor in the future collapse of our planet’s ecosystems and societal structures.

It's a weapon. Signal jamming. Flooding the zone with shit to poison the wells of information. They couldn't fully control the internet with censorship, so they're destroying its usefulness with slop.
