I didn't do well in my physics degree (undiagnosed / unsupported disabilities are difficult, wow). I have to wonder if observation of events without intending them to happen might help (in some way).
Like, if I look at my cats, the photons reflecting off their fur would have been heading toward my retina anyway. I just turned my head to pick them up.
I guess this would be more like if I note observations without looking for certain things? That sounds like it would introduce a *lot* of cognitive biases tho. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDIExJoVwWU

If you can't make decisions at a macro level, you can still choose how you react at a personal level.
(That doesn't mean you're responsible for a shit hand at cards, or a corrupt dealer, or a table of people who don't care. It just means you can pick which if any cards you play, which direction you flip the table, or whether you leave the game to go draw landscapes in sand.)
"Gone" as in unrecognisable, yes. "Gone" as in societal collapse in multiple fields, maybe not. I'm not a historian, but I wonder how people living in the british isles fared after the collapse of the (notably hierarchical and horrifically unequal) roman empire. There are (or were, anyway) still aqueducts, roads, etc.

I know it feels easier to accept bad news in advance, but don't suffer the arrow strike before it happens. If you can't dodge fully, you can still impact where it hits and what you do after. You can use that experience to protect other people from arrows.
I'd also love an infographic or image set of the graphs.
(With informative alt text, so everyone can access them. Not just sensory impairments like sight or hearing, but also easier for people who speak different languages: having text you can copy-paste into a translator or look up word by word in context is very helpful.)

I'm Buddhist now? Chan Buddhism or Zen Buddhism or whatever, with Dtaoism in there cuz it *still* sounds like physics to me.
(No Confucianism because I do not comprehend the use of strict hierarchies outside an acute immediate crisis. That said, I'm very not an expert. No reason for gender binaries though. You're a damn person, ffs. You matter.)

I never understood people who convert between religions as if it's a choice. I mean no harm, but it feels more like realising you're queer.
E.g. I'm bisexual (or whatever, I don't care) so adults can be hot whatever their body shape and apparel.

For this, a need to find precise accuracy and accept limits of measurement are what drive me. Still grateful to Mr [Redacted] for lending me that book on Taoism.
(I really hope OpSec isn't required here and I swear to fuck this was decades ago but JUST IN CASE.)

Seriously, that teacher was so kind. I've heard so, sooooooooooooooooo
          (Soooooo)
SO many horror stories about abuses of power etc. I don't think men ('even' cis ones) are inherently bad. I think people surrounded with bad incentives are reminded that bad choices exist. That doesn't mean "hide information about everything", but "share information about how to reduce harm".

Anyway. He was so down to Earth, treated us like humans, and never seemed to want anything from us except to find personal contentment.

I don't remember specifics at this point, but his vibe was:
Not mad if we didn't do our homework. Just ask how things were at home and if we wanted time to see the school counsellor.

Fuck, if I ever become a parent, carer, or community pibling (Auntie / Uncle but enby), I hope to be chill like that. So gd unassuming.

@MxVerda when I became a neopagan there was a lot of self reflection about, well, I spend my life travelling around delivering messages, I have been known to help people heal, I can be a bit of a scamp.

And all of the sudden it was just, goddammit, youre devoted to mercury arent you?

@Montaagge Sure? I've never heard of neopaganism (and I'm sure it's fine since you seem reasonable), but it's nothing to do with the alt right stuff, right? Cuz they co-opt so much Norse imagery and some Germanic stuff gets lumped in there.

Wait, is neopagan different from (earlier?) paganism?

@MxVerda but, yeah, I do not have the legacy of the oral tradition that defined greco roman theology. I must admit my version is not their own. But I do believe that gods are things we worship and I find polytheistic pantheons are good for being more specific about what you worship than insisting, for instance, I worship the one God of everything Good so I do Evil in His name. I worship mercury, always have, he called me to travel and tell people about important stuff.

If anyone's got any library book (etc) recommendations on different schools of thought in Buddhism, LMK. Daoism/Taoism also cool.

I just want to be able to better describe what I'm feeling. I don't want to step on anyone's toes either.
I hear non-East Asian (like, nationality, not ethnicity?) Buddhists tend to trample all over the cultural shibboleths. (Feels very ironic to me, but in tiniest bit of awareness, we all have our own starting points.) I don't want to contribute to that, where possible.
                    Thank you.

(Bonus points if there's a Manga Guide to Physics version /j. I prefer reading print but digital is fine too. Text to speech is nice to save my eyes a bit.)

Since I hate Steam's licence-only digital shop, and Nintendo's more-money-than-god grubbines, I guess Steam is very slightly in the lead.

"Idk, I think it's less about empathy or compassion, and more about making sure the (hopefully small) group of uncaring people who enter medicine or allied health professions are incentivised to act pro-socially.
Like, in your region, what studying conditions and working conditions are clinicians expected to tolerate? Do they receive a living wage throughout study and work? Is their livelihood for a single person or big enough they can build a household?

Do they feel comfortable being a whistleblower when something goes wrong? (Numbers-wise, mistakes will happen over time.)
How robust is the inspection or regulation? How flexible are the logistics of each sector? How many crises at once can be weathered without change to patient care? How long will it take to build back up that 'extra' capacity / contingency margin?
Who (in what position, in which teams) is responsible (or in what order) for noticing angels of death? What about anyone with less final but still harmful motives?

How severe are the consequences for failure? How many people feel compelled to hide errors rather than remedy them? What options for remediation are accessible to all staff, including contractors?"
