They absolutely act like every 17 year old cadet I ever met. Yes, they’re painfully cringe. You’re 30-40-50something and teenagers are cringe to us now, I’m sorry - it is what it is

@hacks4pancakes Suddenly grateful that when I accidentally shocked myself with a camera flash capacitor twice at 15 I didn't need medical attention.

If the worst case can rattle a Sgt, I don't want to know what I was extremely fortunate enough to avoid.

“The main difference between the Boy Scouts and the US Army is the Boy Scouts have adult supervision”

(Maybe I’ll watch Academy eventually. Still gotta get around to finishing Lower Decks.)

@hacks4pancakes the number of times I’ve reminded peer senior NCOs that, yes, the juniors *literally* don’t know better, that’s why you’re here.

        It’s a lot.

@hacks4pancakes swallowing the comm badge isn't even the dumbest thing they'd do. One of them would absolutely put it the other way round.

@marcotietz no, weird sci fi nerds have never met the following:
            Women
            Queer people
            Kids (strangely)
            Actual military members

@hacks4pancakes they must have lived a very isolated and weirdly alternative lifecycle, coming onto this planet as grown up weird sci fi nerds skipping all the interesting parts.

@hacks4pancakes I literally chipped my front tooth in high school off by laying on a couch and dropping a hammer into my own face accidentally, so I get it.

@virtualbri @hacks4pancakes and I managed to shock myself with a capacitor from a camera flash. By myself. No need for someone to do it for me.

@hacks4pancakes I solve this problem by avoiding star trek, because I'm genuinely not smart enough for it.

I was a legal specialist. I was 19 on my first assignment and entirely disabused of the notion of common sense before I was 20.

@hacks4pancakes Can confirm. We had folks that would take naps on the containers of depleted uranium 30mm rounds who claimed the goal was self-sterilization.
