It is rather interesting to ponder that it is an accepted truism that "good news doesn't sell"... and yet I am finding that things like #3GoodThings, #Bloomscrolling and #Caturday are FAR from boring.

I suppose it is that mainstream media are catering to the prurient desire for gossip.

@kerravonsen They could write such that people are engaged with good news. Bad news is a lower bar.

@CStamp Naw, bad news is only a lower bar because they have so much practice at it.

I for one want to smile and remember the good in the world.

@kerravonsen gossip for profit, yes. that's our news media.
and their gossip for money at industrial scale is social degradation for profit.
(just to describe things as they are.)
I suppose our alternative is community for enjoyment.
and at large scale (I doubt it can be industrialised) that is social progress for enjoyment.
which is objectively the better option. I think both your observation and your priorities are beneficial to every living human being. so... congratulations 🤌

Some people get upset when others aren't repeating all the bad news; they say that those others are "ignoring" or "suppressing" the news, or are "not taking it seriously enough" - they think that everyone should be screaming angry, as screaming-angry as they are themselves.
They are free to be screaming-angry; there is a lot to be angry about. But anger is a diet which does not sustain; it burns hot, and then it turns to acid.
Posting about good things reminds us what we are fighting for, reminds us that life IS actually worth living, reminds us that we are all connected; restores our faith in humanity.
These are good things.
