Digital health company Rune Labs, which helps people with Parkinson’s disease track their symptoms, said Thursday that it has appointed longtime Tempus executive Amy Gordon Franzen as CEO, and that the company plans to expand its technology to Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological conditions.

Brian Pepin, Rune’s co-founder and previous CEO, will stay on as president at the company, where he will lead development of its platform and partnerships with drug developers. Franzen was until recently a senior vice president at Tempus, a publicly traded company that offers data and analytics services to health care providers and life sciences companies.

Rune Labs has gained prominence for launching an Apple Watch-based tool to track symptoms of Parkinson’s disease that can help users and neurologists better manage the condition. Pepin said there are about 20,000 people active on the platform, which is used by customers like Kaiser Permanente for its Parkinson’s patients.
