Everything is so awful. Here's a contrary brick I saw in a wall. It intrigued me and made me smile.

@CiaraNi That's a great image to symbolize software patches. 🙂

Looks like it's been there for a while, so probably solid workmanship. Nice one!

@CiaraNi Laughing. I had no idea where this was -- assumed you were a LOT further North. That would definitely be a London Plane then.

Brick probably dates from Austere Times too, when tradesperson didn't have mandate to go find a bit of flint or whatever the rock, no doubt abundant but outside the built environment. Walls are also repaired like this is they were destined to be render-skinned. I've uncovered some in little reno jobs.

@wavesculptor This was an extremely Londony London Plane, then - it overhangs the media green front of the Houses of Parliament. Interesting to hear how the odd-brick-out may have come about. Thank you.

@michaelgemar @ColesStreetPothole Agreed, that was my thought too. I both do and don't want to know the story. I sort of like the random mismatched mysteriousness of its presence.

@juligudehus I was about to answer 'no, because asking a stranger if they were taking a photo for Mastodon would have made me seem weird' then realised that it probably wouldn't have seemed any weirder than me very publicly eyeballing a wall at close range and taking multiple pictures of one brick.

@grahamperrin That seems specific, but I can't place the reference. I may have a vague memory of a nursery rhyme or skipping-rope song with a mulberry but otherwise am blank now.
