It looks like Mark Fisher was right about "there is no alternative" being a last-ditch thought-stopping technique for adherents of the failing centrist order to prevent themselves from having to think hard about possibilities.

And if you don't, you're a bad person who should feel bad. I am a very good and sensible person and this is very democratic.

Vote for the party candidate, unless they're someone with actually progressive politics. Then don't vote for them because they're unelectable.
After all, you don't want someone unelectable getting elected. That would be bad.

@pvonhellermannn especially when there are okayish Labour politicians in existence and if you really want a person from another party, then why not choose Polanski?

One of the things I love about being on Mastodon is that people appear to be able to debate/discuss and remain civil even when they disagree.Sad to see some of the 'pointy shouters' appearing recently. But also interesting that generally they seem to just get an instant block when they do pop up, so they have very little impact. The pointy shouty habit sticks out like a sore thumb in this environment

One of the things I love about being on Mastodon is that people appear to be able to debate/discuss and remain civil even when they disagree.Sad to see some of the 'pointy shouters' appearing recently. But also interesting that generally they seem to just get an instant block when they do pop up, so they have very little impact. The pointy shouty habit sticks out like a sore thumb in this environment
@Cyclist @pvonhellermannn It’s the main reason why I’m here. I’ve even seen some quite committed political disagreements where the conversation has gone “but I understand that your stance makes more sense to you than mine does to you given your circumstances and perspective.” So refreshing to not be part of a for-profit anger farm!
