    NZ power companies plan to increase their line charges. It's a manifestly unfair method of billing. It reduces the incentive for solar installation, disproportionately affects smaller households, severely affects those trying to reduce their consumption for economic and/or environmental reasons, and reduces the incentive for efficient and robust generation and supply. I think letters to the energy minister S.Watts@ministers.govt.nz in this election year are in order.

      @vik also that where lines companies offer rebates for exporting (a number do) as an incentive for solar/battery the vast majority of retailers just pocket this instead of passing on the incentive.

      Only one retailer has confirmed to me they will pass the winter peak export rebates on (and publicly has done so since). The rest either dodged the question or outright said no they won't.
