I don't know if it's just me, but if back in school they had put quotes like these at the beginning of all classes, I would have been far more interested in the subject.
They made it all seem so static and clinical, that I just couldn't care.

In Haste to catch evening post | Yours sincerely | C. Darwin

I recently read his βVoyage of the Beagleβ. He shared mostly negative impressions of every stop on his trip around the world. It was a surprisingly depressing read -

@Natasha_Jay he wasnβt first with evolution. But he was the first with enough money to self-publish a book on it
He came to Edinburgh University, dropped out of his course but saw the work that was being done there on evolution.
Robert Chambers was the first to write on evolutionary theories, but he wrote anonymously and published in England so as not to offend the church https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Robert_Chambers_(publisher,_born_1802)&wprov=rarw1

@Natasha_Jay seems like once a year, that's OK. Some (me included) are happy when there is a day when they don't feel bad.

@katyswain @Natasha_Jay my autobiography will be titled "I Will Never Finish This Stupid Thing" and then never come out.
