@lobnafamily @gvenema @Gustodon @neutrinoceros @gimulnautti @chielk @irix @kagan @FabioQ20 @lisagetspolitik @mynameistillian @kathimmel @kgaiji Hi there, I know you are going through an unimaginably horrible time but these types of posts are not helpful. For one thing, by mentioning lots of people at the same time, you are at risk of being labelled as spam and, for another, those of us who want to help here only have so much time and emotional capacity.
There are almost 150 people/families in Gaza Verified alone. Please imagine seeing 150 or 300 or 450 such messages if everyone sent one, two, or three a day. The numbers are only going to go up as more Palestinians enter the fediverse.
This is not in anyone’s interests and these sorts of messages threaten the progress we’ve made so far in trying to keep this space open and welcoming to Palestinian voices.
I feel terrible talking to you about etiquette at a time like this but if these messages continue and increase in number, it’s going to make things harder for everyone, including the majority of our friends from Gaza who do not tag multiple people in posts and/or use emotional manipulation (“I will never forgive anyone who sees this post and does not support me…”). Those of us who are overwhelmed by the sheer number of messages but supportive might only mute temporarily to protect their own mental health but those who don’t care or who are actively hostile will block, or worse, report you to your server admin who will then suspend your account. And since mass mentioning people is against our rules at Gaza Verified too we will not be able to help.
We’re not ignoring you. We do support you. But please consider the longer term value of this space as a place for making genuine connections with people.
