Blows my mind that there are still people who think it should be illegal for anyone, anywhere, to move to a new place and get a job there.

@SallyStrange it’s the default belief I’m pretty sure. Probably not because people actually think that but because “it’s how things work”

@SallyStrange I'm retired, so I don't even need the job!!!!! I just want to move to a new place where I hope I would feel and be safer.

@SallyStrange Honestly? As long as they pay taxes the same as everyone else and don't take advantage of the services provided by those, I'm ok.
I worked two years in London, I would be an hypocrite if I wasn't. -

Literally the foundation of human existence: picking up and starting new someplace else. It's a basic human right. -

If someone doesn't pay taxes and "takes advantage of services," then the penalty should be the same regardless of where that person started out their life. Which normally would be having whoever is in charge of collecting taxes track you down and make you pay. Not being kidnapped, imprisoned, and dropped off somewhere else where you don't want to be.Also seems to me that most of the reason an undocumented person wouldn't pay taxes in the first place is the existence of a border, so if that's your main concern then you should be for reducing obstacles to migration and integration into a new polity as much as possible.

@SallyStrange I'm European, here we usually don't deport people. In fact the president of my country is about to "legalize" half a million immigrants.
My only problem with immigration is those that ignore the laws. For instance there's a minimum salary, by accepting less than that in "black money" (outside the laws and not paying taxes or social security) they cause problems for everyone else and piss on all the effort it took to gain those advantages

@SallyStrange First time I'm coming across this belief. I've heard very often that "if you don't like it here, leave/move"

@samuelsantaella
The people who say that aren't thinking at all. It's just a reflex. They have no idea how hard that would be, or, if they do, they're reveling in cruelty. -

Oh yeah, Spain, right? Hopefully the regularization will help with those issues. -

It stops the barbarians from invading and uh... moving to a new place and getting a job here! -

Especially in a world where money is a requirement for survival. When it's illegal to be homeless, what choices do people have? -

Why does no one seem to want to go after employers for this? Is it because migrants are an easier target?

@Johns_priv @SallyStrange Sounds like the employers are the ones committing the crime. It blows my mind that the elites get away with blaming someone for (checks notes) accepting a job that pays too little

@SallyStrange first of all, we are humans. We didn't choose where to born, so those who think are better than others because of it, are delusional. Btw, here in Chile is very normal seeing inmigrants who are legal here discriminating against people for being foreigners... totally nuts
