For those of you looking across the Atlantic & thinking at least what's happening with ICE in Minnesota couldn't happen here.... think again.

This is exactly what Reform UK Ltd (Nigel Farage's company masquerading as a political party) *is* planning - and as so often the Fascists are quite open about what they intend.

Moreover, lacking the sort of constitutional restraints (unevenly) available in the US, the danger of ICE-like action(s) here is worse!

@ChrisMayLA6 I'm looking because I know it will happen under that fascist Farage and we have far fewer routes to protected defence against his private goon squad.

@ChrisMayLA6 also, good practice to never ever say "but it couldn't happen here"

It's surprising that the usually astute far-right haven't noticed that their British patriotism is a thinly-veiled replica of the foreign and homeland policies of the USA under Trump.

@alex_p_roe @ChrisMayLA6 we don't call human beings aliens here.
People call them 'migrants' or, if you're reform, something insect-related.

No, we don't have many at all. But as the US is showing very clearly, it's never 'just' about illegality, or migration. It's oppression and control writ large. One of many reasons we must oppose it (first because no human being is illegal and human rights should be respected.)

@noodlemaz @ChrisMayLA6 Well, if there are fewer, as I suspected, illegal migrants, it’ll be tougher for fascist Farage to do what is being done in the US. As for migration, it's just the latest excuse used by the far-right to stir up hate and get idiots to help keep the super rich, super rich. The often thuggish idiots are far too stupid to realise they are being used!

@ChrisMayLA6 The current Labour administration is paving the path for this. People have been arrested and charged and convicted for holding a meeting discussing possible protest. The courts and judges can refuse to hear the defence case, and forbid the accused or their barristers from telling the court what and why their planned an action. People are charged and described as ‘terrorist’ for holding a sign with certain words in public…..

                  @ChrisMayLA6

                  This is terrifying.

This is why it's so crucial for UK people to vote and to vote in a way that keeps Reform out, even if it means voting for a least worst option.

The horrors this article hiighlights are horrors that can be prevented if Reform is kept out of office.

Allowing them into office will make life much, much, much worse than now, possibly permanently. And the people who will suffer the most are the most vulnerable minorities.

People who "want to keep their hands clean" by not voting or by voting in a non-tactical way are helping these horrors to happen.

The far right claim to be patriotic but they're happy to sell their country out to Trump and Putin.

The same thing is happening in the far right in the rest of Europe, they claim to want to "defend the homeland" but they are collaborating with overseas powers who want to invade and control their homeland.

The leaders of the far right are being bankrolled by foreign billionaires, so they do the bidding of foreign billionaires.

Absolutely, and while Russian propaganda regularly gets called out, its US equivalent is roundly ignored.

The EU have banned political advertising on social media, and the US platforms are variously trying to game or maliciously interpret the ban, The UK has done nothing afaik.

No it won’t. The UK did that Windrush thing and deported or chased off all those people who were in the U.K. legally. Half your countrymen are freaking out about “small boats” even though there are only a few every year.

@duckwhistle @alex_p_roe @ChrisMayLA6 afraid I agree with these points. Fascism is never about facts and rational responses. It's always built on lies and manipulation.

I was in the middle of the million racist pricks who descended on London to scream about migrants and anyone they don't like, climbing buildings, waving flags, drunkenly hurling bottles and vomiting up their curry lunches on the pavement, coming away bloody from a pathetically minimal mounted Met response after attacking said police.

Everyone, especially the racists, thinks we have more immigrants - legal and overstaying/not given leave to remain - than we do. Everyone thinks it costs more than it does. We can tell them til we're blue in the face how little it actually costs and how much immigration gives this country.

They don't care because their hate isn't based in facts in the first place.
