    one important point here is that this only lets you interact with someone who's not bridged after they've interacted with you, and only to directly respond to that interaction. nothing else. we hope that maintains people's existing expectations, in general.

      @quillmatiq When following the bot, one assurance is that only those that agree to being part of the fediverse, or the other way around, get to participate: limiting the number of non-commital replies you get from over the bridge. It's also a slippery slope for fully automatic bridging.

      @flaviusflavius Getting non-committal (I actually think bridging is a form of committing, but I digress) isn't a conversation around consent. I think that if you're replying to or mentioning someone, they have the right to respond.

      As far as a slippery slope - we've been very clear since the founding of A New Social about never auto-bridging anyone on Bridgy Fed. We've specifically designed this feature so that the unbridged user is not exposed to the bridge.

        We're excited to launch our most-requested Bridgy Fed feature: being able to interact with unbridged users!

        Starting today, when people interact with you on the other side of the bridge, you'll get a notification over DM along with a "respond" link, where you can like, repost, reply, or block.

            @rosewsgf To preserve privacy, we don't "look" at any posts/profiles that don't directly engage with the bridge. While that may be a popular ask (it's actually less popular than this one!), it's not in our jurisdiction, unfortunately.

            @quillmatiq My understanding is that Bridgy was initially to be opt-out, but then people took issue with that and the default had to be changed, so I get that. Still, it's unfortunate, especially considering for all the dozens requests sent by me via Bridgy, not one person has followed it. Creating a Bluesky account just to ask also got it immediately blocked by Bluesky.

                @anewsocial

                Mails or DMs with links to click are always suspicious.

                    @anewsocial How can I respond to previous replies sent before this change?

                    Also, how long does it take for the DM to get sent after a reply is received?

                      @candidexmedia This is only for new posts, unfortunately.

                      We send DMs as hourly digests if there's any interactions!
