I put him to sleep yesterday.

@flexghost so sorry for your loss
.Here's my first and adopted lovely lady Yana. 14+ years now, body slowly giving in, but her spirit is strong. Now 6 years with us, coming from a loved home (her owner died).
This is her playing a few minutes today.
@Frieke72 they just want to take care of us so much they just soldier on without ever complaining
-
@Flowermob that is very kind of Claude

@flexghost he also permits me to brush him regularly.

@flexghost I'm so very sorry. Here's a picture of Pushkin, the most incredible stray cat there ever was. Barely fifteen weeks old, she came home with us in total trust and decided she liked it at our home, even though we had her checked for an ID and put ads out. Nobody claimed this beautiful and totally lovely cat. It's been 5½ years now.
@Eetschrijver that is so magical when a cat chooses you like that
-
@flexghost sorry for your loss. I've had many little souls grace me with their love and presence. I can't post about them without spiralling in to an ugly tears session, so I will instead share our current furball. She's been with us for only 6 months so still adapting. She's already 10 years.
@kattebel absolute beauty and I will join you in ugly tears

I put him to sleep yesterday. My sweet boy for 15 years. He’d come to me from an abusive home. You could see it in how he held himself those first months, like he was always bracing.
But he figured it out. Not all at once but in small surrenders. Picking up a toy. Playing so free. The way he’d eventually push his head under your hand, asking.
I miss him.
If you have a moment, I’d like to hear about your animals. The ones you still carry with you.
@flexghost =(
So sorry. May the memories and the love linger.

@flexghost It is. I feel privileged to this day. And she's a real buddy.

@flexghost Sorry for your loss. My two official furbabies are Mina (the adult) and Waffle (the adolescent). They both adopted me at the local shelter. The two unofficial cats are strays that I feed. They'll probably get names soon too, since I'm pretty sure I belong to them now.

@albnelson @flexghost Oh, very much so!

@flexghost yeah, that's something to watch out for.
We've given yana a lot of autonomy regarding walks. They are now very short and in the direction and speed she wants to go. Same goes for play.
She sleeps and rests almost 23 hours per day now -

@flexghost I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure he was a good dog.
We no longer have a dog, but I think about out last one, Sprocket all the time.

@flexghost So sorry for your loss; it's always so hard. I've had dogs all my life, but our current one is the first I've ever rescued, and dealing with the "scars” she got before coming to us makes me so sad.

@flexghost This is Pixel, our now 5 year old Parson russell Terrier. We got him after 10 year after our previous beloved dog died, probably through poisoning. PIxel is a true digital dog, he is either on or off. When he is on he is in constant motion, activity and demands a lot of attention and hikes.

@flexghost I am so sorry for your loss, here is a picture of our dearly departed dachshund Princesa, who passed 3 years ago, and one of our current golden retriever Freja.

@macquilter that’s beautiful. Sometimes it can be frustrating when their scars affect behavior but at the same time you get this love from them that’s just unparalleled just from being there and giving them safety
