So it finally happened: My job is now mandating generative ai use. They can’t define what that means, but they’ll be damned if they aren’t going to punish us anyway.
Anyone out there looking for a telecom/network engineer? Remote preferred, but happy to go hybrid in Detroit area for the right place. Largely Cisco background for R&S or Voice, but a quick learner on others. FW and wireless experience with several vendors as well as Cisco.
Edit to clarify: not fired yet.

@ii_infinitum If it helps, I can set up a "genAI" company, send you a constant stream of plausible sounding bullshyt, a huge invoice to sign off on once a month, then we split the money? Basically the standard model, just faintly more ethical?

@cmconseils Thanks. I’m one of the lucky ones to be left after years of layoffs, but I think they care more about ideological alignment than work, so I’m sure my time is coming. I’d like to back to a university, but they’re not having a great time now either.

@_thegeoff if I got to pick the tool we’d be in! I think the ethics cancel each other out anyway.

@ii_infinitum I know the feeling

@ii_infinitum Oh, yeah, that pesky "randomly generated data should not guide legally obligated responsibilities" clause. My bad.

@cmconseils @ii_infinitum It is one thing trying to push to get a new technology at the workplace; It is another to have people punished for not following a well defined company policy.
But now, doing both at the same time... That's the kind of thing they teach you NOT to do in admin school
