I've written a lot over the years about how psychological damage is what underlies most right-wing viewpoints, but a video is worth 10,000 pictures.

Here's Fox telling its audience repeatedly for hours that "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" was "evil" because it told pre-school children that they were special and had moral value.
These are deeply disturbed people.

@mattsheffield Nevermind how each episode featured different skills and the work that goes into developing them, or the hard work of family-owned factories that build everyday items so kids don't take them for granted. Lady Elaine has more dignity and class than these clowns.

@mattsheffield This is some fucked up mental judo for them to get there.
Additionally, "Kids" haven't watched Mr. Rodgers in a few generations. Mr. Rodgers was for GenX. Last I checked, I'm old.
And I love how Fox narcissists are talking about narcissism.

@mattsheffield Also, Mr. Rodgers looks Bad Ass in an Arsenio Hall jacket. Just sayin'.

@mattsheffield These fucking dipshits have no idea what Fred Rogers was doing. Moral philosophy for kids: you have intrinsic value as a person, regardless of what you can do.

@elfin This is an old clip, as you can see from the 4:3 ratio and poor video quality.

@mattsheffield Ok, I'll accept that (thanks for pointing that out, in fact). So, Gen Y, perhaps.

@log @mattsheffield The other kids have intrinsic value too, which is what really gets the Fox people’s panties twisted.

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social This is right on par with a YouTube video I saw many years ago of someone complaining that the Teletubbies were communist propaganda.

@mattsheffield I’m trying to imagine who would let their kids watch a TV show that told kids the world owes them nothing, and also which companies would’ve sponsored it. I grew up with Captain Kangaroo and he would never have sent that message either. He was a clown but he didn’t judge others the way these clowns do.
