    I'm happy to announce ChapterPod, an app for adding chapters to podcast files, is now available to download!

    I've been using this for about 6 months behind the scenes to do all the chapters for Comfort Zone, and it's easily the best tool for the job (for me, at least).

    Available for Mac, iPad, and iPhone

      Among the things I've found useful have been the ability to import and export your chapters as text.

      Do you write your chapters in a text doc or for YouTube and then need them in your podcast? Import in one click!

      Need to get your chapters from the episode out for the YouTube version of the show? Export them in a click.

        Cross-platform (across Apple, at least) was important to me, so that iPhone and iPad users could work on their shows the same way Mac users have been able to with apps like Forecast for years.

          You may have also noticed that there is playback in the app. Yes, you can listen back to your show in the app and add chapters as you go. No more needing to open the episode in another podcast app or QuickTime(!) to find the timestamps.

          There's a setting to offset when you hit the "add chapter" button as well, so you don't have to have superhuman reflexes to get the exact timing right.

            Finally, while I do make a nice, dedicated app for generating transcripts (big news around that app coming soon as well), I also built in a basic transcript generator into this app.

            ChapterPod is out now and is free to try for a few exports. If you like it, it's a one-time fee to use forever.

                      @matt_birchler Congrats on launch — have been eagerly waiting for release date and am excited to give this a try with my church's podcast after Sunday.

                      The separate YouTube vs podcast workflow is a real one, was stoked to see that feature in your posts, as well as the in-app player. Can already see this saving me a ton of time each week.

                      I was always envious of Forecast's ability to load markers in from Logic; sadly with ours being a video recording that also comes with an audio-only podcast variant, it didn't seem to be able to load FCP markers the same way.
                      • If ChapterPod could ever import FCP markers directly, I'd fully lose my mind.

                        @jkrahn Thank you so much!

                        The Final Cut Pro markers are interesting. Is the use case that you'd want to drag the video into the app, have it converted to an MP3, and have your markers already inserted as chapters?

                        This workflow will be available for AIF and WAV files in the next update, but I hadn't considered any support for video files.

                            @matt_birchler I wasn't thinking of dropping a video file itself (I currently export both a video file and audio-only version of the same FCP project for the YouTube and podcast uploads respectively), but being able to just export video and then send video to ChapterPod would be cool!

                            Even in the 2-file export path I'm doing now, if ChapterPod could pick up the FCP chapters from the audio file (if possible?), that would be differently but equally dope.
