      "The Booker prize-winning Indian author said: “To hear them say that art should not be political is jaw-dropping. It is a way of shutting down a conversation about a crime against humanity even as it unfolds before us in real time – when artists, writers and film-makers should be doing everything in their power to stop it.”

      Well said Arundhati Roy

        @onepict this Wenders guy doesn't get that to be alive and participate in a society is to be political.

        being "apolitical" is as political a stance as being "political".

        also, only privileged people can claim to be "apolitical", because being passive and accepting the status quo is in their own interest over the unprivileged and every even slight loss of privilege feels like theft to them.

          @mfru yep, it's a thing I wish more of us in FOSS realised.

          "When you write (or choose not to write) a piece of software, this is a political act. [...]

          Choosing not to play the game is also a move. You cannot escape politics."

            @AubreyDeLosDestinos @rysiek

            I think there's a point where artists become isolated from what drove them, when they get really successful.

            It's what happens when you become part of the establishment. You're comfortable and now you've got something to loose.
