What was your first Linux distro, and why did you pick it?

For me it was Fedora. I knew basically nothing about Linux at the time, but the logo just clicked 😁 It also felt more up to date and actively worked on, so I figured it was a good place to start.

    What about you? πŸ™„

@dan_nanni Slackware. Because back in 1995 or so there just weren't many choices.

@dan_nanni Conectiva Linux because it was the only Brazilian distro in the 90s - but it was basically a translated Red Hat.

@dan_nanni Lubuntu. Was looking for what to do with an old Chromebook that only had a 15GB SSD and it was the only thing I could find that would fit and seemed ok for a newbie to try out.

@dan_nanni It was #SuSe #Linux, because I could obtain the install CDs at school.

It really sucked (and I never touched it again to this day) so I went straight to #Debian when I had access to university network in the early 2000's.

Long story short is I ended up with #Gentoo few years after and it's been a blast ever since, even though I had to use #Windows for work for half a decade after graduating*.

                * Though that was Win7 and Win10, which was... not as bad as the present.

@jeff_3ix yeah Chromebook can make a good, dirt-cheap Linux machine πŸ™‚
