@MLE_online Did you see the $10,000 bounty for anyone who can make a Ring doorbell video cam stop sending to Amazon and send to a local IP, instead? For when you get bored. That looks like a beefy bike motor.

@steter I did but I don't know anything about hacking computer code. This is just bypassing circuitry. I wouldn't have any idea where to start with a ring camera because it would be all code stuff

@MLE_online It's probably a mix of both, because chips store the data that would need to be changed. The chips themselves might need to be replaced, or a circuit designed to route around one. I should get one to take it apart. I have an Amazon Echo I've never used. I wonder if it uses the same technology. Hm. 🤔

@steter yeah I just wouldn't know what to do with that you know. I can identify phase wires and hall effect wires on an e-bike motor but I can't look at a microchip and know how to replace it with something else or modify it.

I did it!! I hacked the e-bike motor!

It's only running off of 36 volts here rather than the 48 it's designed for because i don't have a generic 48v controller, so it's going slower than it should, but it works.

Now that I know this is possible, I will go ahead and order a 48 volt controller and a 48v BMS for rebuilding the battery pack

@Stellar Yep! Some motors will have their own internal controller stuff and you don't get the hall wires or phases broken out. That wasn't the case this time. The motor is running now
