Because apparently Windows 11 is at all moments a system update's breath away from total destruction, maybe it's time to install Linux Mint on my laptop and see how that goes 🤔

(It'll probably go well, I would guess.)

@maijanlainen
You can make a bootable USB 3.x stick that will start up in less than 15 seconds and let you try it out.Remember, with Linux, you can make it look like anything you want. I like the built in Cinnamon and skin it to look like a Mac, using the built in library of customisation add-ons.
Unlike WinSlop, no bloat unless YOU add it.

@cflynnbooks Thanks, I'm a little worried that my only Windows OS that I can use right now is on that laptop, which is a secondhand purchase, and if I bulldoze it, then I've no Windows anymore (I have this perhaps a little unfounded fear of WHAT IF I NEED WINDOWS all of a sudden - then again, a year ago I had to install MS software on it for the purpose of dealing with a client's infra system for work reasons, but this is a fewer than five years type of occurrence.)
But I do want/need my laptop for writing at the same time. Of course that becomes difficult if I use and OS that decides to one day format my hard drive
