  3. Fun fact to keep you awake tonight: Just had a chat with an atmospheric chemist and the best comparison she could come up with for the pollution that would result from burning up 1 million "AI datacenter" satellites in Earth's atmosphere is a nuclear war.

        @sundogplanets

        talking about it in terms like this is how we'll get the press and public more aware. hopefully before it's too late.

                @sundogplanets Wouldn't *launching* that many of them have even more atmospheric impact??? (btw I had written off "AI datacenter satellites" as a really bad joke and ignored them, but I see more and more serious people like yourself worrying over them. This in itself wil keep me awake. I'll read up tomorrow.)

                  @sundogplanets @paul_ipv6 I really don't believe this stupid plan is ever going to happen.

                  Even if they can launch 1000 sats a week, it'll take 20 years (if none fall down). And that's not even taking into consideration the resources needed to build them.

                  It's more Elon bluster, and just a way for him to get money out of gullible investors. Think Theranos.

                  There is (unfortunately) plenty of credible schemes to fight.

                      @paul_ipv6 @sundogplanets Isn't that basically the premise of the Martix-movies?
