The government, under both Trump & Biden, does not want people to wear masks as seeing people in masks is evidence that they failed in handling Covid. Those who ignorant of medical science are most likely to fall for this. Don't believe the anti-mask propaganda.
When you claim masks don't work you are really saying that 1) you are utterly ignorant of medical science and 2) you are a fool who is willing to spread government propaganda.
