#WordWeavers 11.15 — Describe the setting of your last writing session (where, what time, sounds, smells, etc.). How did it go?

We're at my desk, and it's around nine at night. I write, game, and podcast from here, as well as enjoy movies, listening to podcasts, and more. I have RGB lights around and a soothing rainstorm ASMR video playing in the background as I write, and I'm (trying to remain) focused as I furiously scribble down as much information from my frazzled brain as I possibly can in the time that I'm allotted. My nana broke her foot on Halloween, so it's been a bit manic in the house lately, and when I hear the walker on the floor upstairs, well... I'm usually headed up the staircase to see what mischief she's gotten up to. (She's fine, by the way, and healing nicely. But she likes to do things that she shouldn't be attempting just yet. She hates having that independence taken away, as would we all.) So, in the end, I'm typing away like a madman and getting everything done that I can. Sounds fun, right? It is. Kinda. It's my time to myself. You can smell a Yankee Candle burning, its scent a blueberry pie, and my cat is purring by my feet. All in all, it should be rather relaxing.

#WordWeavers 11.17 — How athletic are your characters?

The majority of the main cast are a mixture of werewolves and vampires, so they're all rather athletic (but in the immortal sort of way). Their combat skills are amazing as well. The humans AKA mortals are just that. They're human, perfectly imperfect, and they come in all different shapes, sizes, and ages.

#WordWeavers 11.16 — If your antagonist magically appeared in your home, would you two get along?

Not at all. Duncan would probably rip me to shreds and drink my blood. If Isma showed up, though, I'd be turned into a human slave and he would keep me for some time, occasionally drinking from me, and would eventually kill me later on.

Both of these options have my shuddering over here. No thank you.

#WordWeavers 11.20 — Has the Covid pandemic affected how or where you write?

I had my MS diagnosis during COVID, so A LOT changed for me during that time period. My whole life, really. Writing is more of a pain for me these days but I love it so much and nothing can stop me from a passionate pursuit. I used to either write when I was out having coffee or at home. These days, I solely write at home. (I still wear masks when I'm out. I don't even want a cold from anyone, let alone COVID again or something like RSV. No thank you.)

Both. It's definitely both. It's an escape for me, but it's also incredibly hard to do when I'm under a ton of pressure and stress in my life. I think I talk about that a lot on here.

Goodness... There's too many to list. But I will shout-out a very good friend of mine who is also a fantastic writer and is always so supportive of my stories. It's @therivercrow. My girlfriend AKA @aperfectsong also helps me with a lot of my beta reading and editing whenever I need a helping hand. She's wonderful that way.

Fun fact: My MCs are vampires. They don't eat meat. They only drink blood. Two of my SCs are werewolves, though, and they'll eat ANYTHING if it isn't nailed down. They have high metabolisms.

#WordWeavers 11.27 — When it comes to your writing, what are you thankful for?

I'm thankful for the people I surround myself with. We lift each other up, support one another, and enjoy and critique our writing. We're friends. I'm thankful to have made a lot of close friends (and I've even met my long-time girlfriend) through writing in general. Especially here as well, not to be forgotten. This place has changed my life for the better, and I've made so many amazing friends because of it. That's all down to writing, and it's heartwarming. It's a wonderful thought.

Alistair has never seen or eaten candy corn, but that's because it's the Victorian era. He's also a vampire, so he couldn't eat it. What he would do, however, is give some to his mortal (human) friends and let them enjoy it. That would give him a big smile.

My girlfriend. My friends. My family. My love and passion for it. All of those things keep me going, no matter what's going on in my life or how "tough" the writing process (or editing) gets for a while. It's why I stick it out and keep on truckin'.

#WordWeavers 11.30 — When writing, do you consider your topics to avoid book banning or fallout of any sort?

Never. F*ck book banning. I couldn't care less about bigots or how they would feel about my stories. If you're someone who finds their work banned, it's only because it's powerful and influential (and probably needs to be talked about). Your work, despite being banned, will *still* be found, only by different avenues.

I'll write what I want to write and I have my own readers, so it's alright in the end.

Alternatively, being serious as well, I won't step on the toes of anyone from another culture or ethnic group, but that's because I always stive to be a good person. Fallout is important. I don't want to hurt anyone. Some authors, as I've found, just don't care. I do, though. All (or most) of us here on Masto are good people in the writing community. I'm sure that's the usual thought process.

#WordWeavers 12.1 — In an alternate universe, you are the opposite of who you are. What's your story like there?

Let's talk about if I was dropped into my WIP but the opposite of who I am. Ha. I'd be an outgoing person, for one. I'm an introvert who suffers from pushed into big situations and family will call me an extrovert and laugh when I say differently. LOL.

I'd be a loud, outgoing, and uninhibited tavern / inn owner. I might even be beating up the nasty patrons and throwing them out by myself.

Good food, hearth smoke, and the delicate scent of herbs and flowers (when the time of year allows it). The scents of daily chores, cooking, and cleaning as well. Come to think of it, you can also smell perfumes, various hygiene habits, medical odors, etc.

This is a really good question.
