Wow I can't believe they actually do this on purpose. It breaks like 80% of the whole idea behind Mastodon imo. Replacing organic discovery with trending and suggested accounts?? It's so bad I need to find a new server that isn't run by the Mastodon team.

A shared post from another user who also likes owls and thinks the pictures are great.
And whether it's worldfeed or not, the pictures can be seen throughout the Fediverse, regardless of which software you use.
So yes, the network is the Fediverse, Mastodon is just your software, not that of the entire network

#mastodon #fedi #fediverse @Mastodon@macberg I imagine their local timeline is basically useless, once a server gets to a certain magnitude it's all just noise. On the servers I use, it's crucial because they're actual communities, however loosely.

I remember back when Eugene Rochko released the first Mastodon App. He disabled the live feeds as well. Receiving immediate protests from the users. Later the live streams were introduced in the Mastodon App.
What the heck does the Mastodon team think they are.
But at the end this is actually good, when many folks decide to leave that overly sized Mastodon instance. -
