I've said it before and I'll say it again... it should be illegal for a politician to lie, both while campaigning (including de facto campaigns that occur outside of official election campaigns) and when acting in any official capacity.

I'm not a fan of the concept of jail as punishment but I'll make an exception for lying politicians.
