Canada has spent almost a $1B on Microsft & Office,
Meanwhile Europe adopts alternatives.
Does tech in Canada have any elbows?

The $940 million over 7 years the government is paying Microsoft would pay the salaries of over 1,000 software developers (assuming an average rate of pay equal to the median rate of pay for a software developer in Canada... A 1,000 developers would be more than sufficient to move the entire Federal Government to open-source software customised to meet the government's needs

@RantingCanuck The tired old pathetic excuse of "we would have to train" will be trotted out, at the same time that AI is being pushed.
How many lame or contradictory excuses will be offered

@RantingCanuck @pinhman As someone who used to teach Office at the high school level (mostly to adults) before switching to the corporate world, it has been my observation that most people don't know how to use Office either. There will be a few people who will need retraining, and a few things will need to be fixed in conversion. Most people will barely notice. I use LibreOffice at home and Microsoft at work.
