If Greenland became independent would they not lose their NATO membership, which it seems would come in handy if they were invaded.

@the5thColumnist I suspect that NATO membership would be negotiated as part of any independence process. Notably Greenland independence is not, as far as I know, opposed by the government of Denmark. They have said that choice is up to the people of Greenland so I expect if the people of Greenland did vote for independence it would be a relatively civil process.
