@shawnhooper My company is currently evaluating Proxmox with a goal of replacing VMware. It's going great so far.

@shawnhooper Your are in for a ride! Once you have your proxmox install spin up all the machines, lean back and enjoy the ensuing chaos.

I bought a old server a while back and spinning up something easily for quick local experiments is just amazing.

On a side note: Against suggestions from the internet I set up two proxmox nodes as a cluster to play around with. While it is fun to seamlessly migrate vms while it lasts, it is quite the pain to get rid of again. I'd therefore recommend staying away from multi proxmox nodes unless you actually need it.

@djings I'm staying away from the cluster for the moment. One host, on a MiniPC.

@zazzoo My use case is going to be much much much smaller. 😉

Seems like a great solution though, so far.

@shawnhooper We're not all that big either. We've got three fully-saturated virtual hosts with ~50 guests. I'm intrigued by the container service, LXC. Rather than straight-up virtualization, I'm hoping we'll be able to take advantage of this to make more efficient use of the physical resources. This could save us from having to procure a fourth host.
