@Wintergr33n @infobeautiful The map shows the UK as teal. Which is tea.

OMG sorry, I'm jetlagged.

A true world divide
@infobeautiful Once again I'm an outlier.

@infobeautiful It is not accurate. Vietnam is a true coffee culture and it is not on the list.
@Microplastics101 @infobeautiful Vietnamese coffee is very good, but they really drink a lot of tea in Vietnam. Even when you order a cup of coffee you often get a cup of tea to go with it it.

@lhengstmengel @infobeautiful True. But they are called cafes. Something to do with french influence. Surest thing i have found everywhere. Every town has a cafe and a hairdresser. Every few hundred meters it seems. Love to see the hairdressers to population stats

@Wintergr33n @ZDL @infobeautiful
Since 2023 the UK drinks more coffee than tea, it was big news here as if the empire had fallen again -

I suppose at this broad and binary scale nuance is lost
South India grows and drinks both tea and coffee , maybe coffee not at tea scale but still quite a lot even with the generally slightly higher price.
Coffee shops are every where in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

@Microplastics101 not sure what you're trying to say but chances are high that you get a cup of tea, not coffee, at the local hairdresser too. In small local eateries they will serve tea with your noodle soup, not coffee. Coffee is more of a luxury product. So I'd say the map is accurate, at least for Vietnam.

A true world divide
@infobeautiful The fact - 50:50 is almost every country in the world.
