Ohh, it looks like how I remember Discord! I guess even better, I think there is are too many elements on screen in some servers, but sounds interesting and free!

But... What exactly would I do there? I stopped using Discord because it was a bit annoying and I didn't use it, ever, so how does communities like this use those chats?

@superboom12s @alex I set it up to give people a place to chat with other members in a more traditional way, Most posts on misskey usually get most activity the 2 hours day after that it goes slowly, here people can post something and others can see and reply when they want, Lemmy offers even more longer term engagement

this way we cover both (Short term engagement, Microblogging: misskey), Medium term(Matrix, IRC{with znc}) and Long term Lemmy, Peertube

Hm, I understand, people are mostly interested on the latest, Lemmy might have longer time periods for its forum base, I guess, but I don't quite understand why Matrix would have longer term than Misskey, probably because of the custom channels, right?

But I mean... What people use it to? It was a bit hard to me to understand microblogging too, but I found that it could be entertaining looking at opinions, news and small new discoveries about what I liked, but I still don't understand why people like to talk to people they don't know in the internet directly (like Discord servers where people are sending nosense every second and even verbally harming others with zero purpose, just feels a bit like a waste of time, at least if it was entertaining I would completely understand, but it doesn't even look like it is...).


Now that I have a bit more time, I guess I could try to join and see it myself if you think it would be nice. ​​

I grew up with IRC which is all randos who are anon, Had some of the deepest convos there growing up and made some sick bonds and friendships with those people

People I met on the internet usually just ends up ghosting me eventually or being rude towards me, probably because (apart of my social flaws) they won't ever see me IRL, but that is the biggest problem I find! I would like to have IRL friends... Online people doesn't make me feel loved at all for some reason... ​​

@superboom12s @xaetacore @alex you know, I had a lot of online friends I ended up meeting irl. It's about finding your community and people that are yours in the terms of energy. I think you'll find good friends both irl and on the web. ​​ this instance is the most comfortable among the things I've had in years (and I was chronically online even when I had full time job xd)

And I am just a weirdo... I haven't ever met someone like me, and I have met lots of people!! I recently won the first price of an informatics convention at the university (would be pleased to tell the exact one, but I don't want to get doxed my first day here ​​), I was offered different jobs and met lots of people that should have been like me!
That among other experiences last year made me realice that I am unique, which would be a good thing if I was any good at socialicing! Not that is hard for me to meet people, but I don't seem to have the ability to entertain other people long enough, I try my best cause I see I am too different from others, but its just that I can't, guess the same may happen with online people.

@superboom12s @musha @alex If you walk around late in the evening near pups you may run into random NPC's, Usually the more pub like places(Not clubs) have chill ppl,. I met my first freindgroup when i went solo to a pub which is now gone X_X

@xaetacore @musha @alex Hm, I see, I like walking in the night out there as there aren't many NPC's loaded in the street, but I also feel a bit scared of getting looted alone...

Around here, people in pubs are mostly just alcoholics and not exactly the best kind of people... Some years ago I used to spend most of my time with my dad and some random people in that kind of places, but it was horrible, I genuinely didn't met a single reasonable or worth person in those. On Ireland and with a group of friends I used to have I had the experience you describe! But in my city I think it's not a good strategy...

@superboom12s @xaetacore @alex ahahah the mood. I like the nights but from time to time it's very scary to walk in the city during it.

(Insert a joke "are we living in the same country?") I don't like drunk people because of it. Not many of them can be polite and nice, and they often want to force you into drinking (I've never even drank alcohol in my entire life)​​ Gosh, if I had money I'd go to Ireland to get such an experience as well because it sounds nice

I've heard that Lemmy is pretty much Reddit but with even more insufferable people.

@musha @xaetacore @alex I never felt forced into drinking, I was even scared about it, like the "I am never-ever drinking alcohol in my life!", but at the end of high school I befriend with a guy that already had failed two years of school and by the context, you can guess why... He didn't force me at all, may helped but it was completely my choice to start drinking and in general begin with drugs with him then... During that and maybe next year I prooooobably had a small kind of addiction, but it didn't last much. I enjoyed my time with him and did lots of crazy stuff, but I always knew that he wasn't worth it and despite already being an adult when he knew me (I was still underaged, as I never failed a year in school...), he is still being really immature today. I haven't talked with him in some years, but I still hear from him to time to time and it always makes me sad, he is just like a child on his grown up body!

And all of this while I have half bottle of Absolut Vodka in my desk... It has an explanation, okay...? It was a leftover from last time I partied out there... Probably my last time ever... And now I don't know what to use it for, I don't want to drink it alone! ​​

The concept of communities is awesome, but I guess probably shouldn't be done with forums...?

Suppose the world in general is just getting to be a bit too acidic. I wouldn't let my bleak outlook prevent you from trying it, though. For all I know, you may end up liking it there if you enjoyed the way Reddit handled.

Tea from fresh ginger root works too tho not as potent, try adding a slice of lemon for a nice taste
